The second vintage of our icon wine was applauded by the press, a great start to confirm the success of Lota 2004.
On October 30, a small group of specialized journalists and sommeliers were invited by Cousiño-Macul to taste Lota 2005 before its launch to the national market.
The response was a complete success. It was pointed out that this second edition of our icon wine not only unites tradition, family history and the distinctive elegance of the Cousiño-Macul wines; but also has its own, single and charming personality.
The Lota 2005 composition is 75% of Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% of Merlot, 10% more of Merlot than the first vintage, which confers a great expression of fruits, fine quality and profound harmony.
Matías Rivera, our Head Winemaker, described it as “an assemblage that stands out for its nose, with extraordinary aromatic notes and great intensity. Its mouth is complete, presents fresh fruits and great concentration. I guarantee Lota 2005 will have an excellent evolution for the next 15 years, and will always stand out for its elegance, structure and unique personality”.
Even though, Lota 2004 left a great challenge –it only took a few months to be sold out in the Chilean market and the world’s most influent wine critic, Robert Parker, distinguished it with 93 points-, we are confident the 2005 vintage will not have any obstacle to confirm and consolidate this success.
