To celebrate the beginning of its next 150 years, Cousiño-Macul introduced its Icon wine, Lota. The launching ceremony was part of a spectacular dinner in the underground cellars of Macul attended by around 150 guests, including distributors, foreign journalists and local and foreign press.

During the presentation ceremony, Arturo Cousiño, President of Cousiño-Macul, stated: "LOTA is a tribute to the spirit of our ancestors.


Following in their footsteps, we present Lota as a symbol of the energy and beauty of nature that was so dear to them.”

Explains Arturo Cousiño, President of Cousiño-Macul: “LOTA reflects more than a century and a half of hard work and fortitude. It is an extension of all the advancements and achievements that our ancestors have made, starting with the creation of the town of Lota in the mid-19th century.

We, the sixth generation, have been planning and working on the LOTA project for over ten years. We set out to make this very special wine for the 150th anniversary, but we also wanted it to be much more. LOTA is our calling card and a statement saying that our family is committed to working on the highest quality level.”

Later, Matías Rivera gave special thanks to the Cousiño brothers (Carlos, Emilio and Arturo), for "giving us the opportunity to produce the best wine of Chile.”
