Beginning with the 2005 vintage, Don Matias, one of the oldest wines from Chile, is being repositioned in terms of its wine style and package. These changes reflect a desire to keep pace with the times by offering consumers wines that are immediately enjoyable.
Produced from the new Buin estate of Cousiño-Macul, this Reserve Maipo Valley is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The former contributes character and structure, whereas the latter adds to the wine’s delicacy and aromatic range. Aging in French oak barrels contributes to the wine’s complexity, while keeping the fresh fruit.
With the improved Don Matias red, Cousiño Macul remains faithful to its goal to produce world-class wine. "We try to obtain the perfect union between tradition and history as we adapt to the modern times and preferences of the consumers. As for the new package design,, we have maintained our classic design, but have introduced changes in the typeface, colors and the form of the bottle," explained Fernando Rodriguez, commercial manager of the winery.
This new Don Matías red continues to pair well with Chilean food, and maintains its characteristic of being an accessible wine.
