Under this slogan, Cousiño-Macul presented the new vintages of its white wines 2007 to the press.
The introduction of the 2007 vintages of Cousiño-Macul white wines turned out a great success. Almost forty specialized journalist, from radio and print media, attended to the Macul estate to taste the five 2007 white wines that Matías Rivera, our Chief Winemaker, presented.
The tasting started with the applauded Sauvignon Blanc, that offers intense lime, apple and grapefruit aromas, with a little hint of fresh herbs. It was pointed out by the media experts for its amazing quality.
The Sauvignon Gris 2007 was also acclaimed and distinguished for presenting intense aromas of white peach and tangerine, with some hints of anis and ginger.
Doña Isidora Riesling 2007 was presented as a medium body wine, that exposes the typical floral aromas of this variety and flavours such as apple juice, fennel, apricot and lemon. It has a large, refreshing and citric end.
The Riesling 2007 is an expressive wine, with the classic aromas of jasmine, flowering apple tree, lemon and mango. It has an excellent texture and the flavours of ripped apple, fennel, apricot and lemon stand out.
Finally, Rivera presented the new Rosé, that offers a vibrating fruit. In the nose, raspberries, cherries, watermelon and rose petals take especial prominence. In the palate, juicy tastes of watermelon, fresh herbs, species and pomegranate appear.
Referring to the 2007 version of these white wines, the Chief Winemaker remarked “they have an extraordinary aromatic expression and a silky and consistent texture in mouth. They are very well structured and balanced, qualities that turns them into ideal compliments for diverse meals.
My favourite is the Riesling, because of its aromatic and flavour layers, and because it has a natural tannic structure that adds concentration and good aging potential; it is a very interesting vine”.
The meeting ended with a tasting of our Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 and Antiguas Reservas Merlot 2006.
